I want to install Unity 4.2 VM with FO and have a third MCS server with Exchange 2003 for message store.
Can I install Exchange 2003 on the message store server using the CDs from Cisco?
The CCO guides on separating Unity and Exchange reference only 2000, not 2003.

Exchange 2003 is compatible with Unity 4.2(1) so I don't see why this would be an issue. The Exchange 2003 that comes on the Cisco disks is a regular version of Exchange so I don't see why you couldn't use those.

You can use the MCS server or a third party server for Exchange 2003. The only rule of thumb with Failover is that Message Store be located on a different box. (like you have stated)
You can use the Exchange disc (Message Store) that came with the Unity bundle, or if you have a MSFT copy, you can use that as well.
