Upgrade from Unity Voicemail Only to Unified Messaging

My company installed last year Cisco CallManager and Unity for Voicemail only. Our Unity server is currently at 4.0(3)SR1, and resides in its own domain. We are contemplating a move to unified messaging, using our existing Exchange 2003 server, however this is a different domain than the Unity server. What is the best way to handle this type of upgrade?

changing domains like that requires a "forklift" migration - also, check out the DiRT help file for some details on the backup/restore mechanism you'll need to use for this:

In there you'll see details about using alias mapping if you need to (i.e. if the mail aliases you're using on your 2003 deployment do not match those used in your current Unity 4.0(3) install).
