Can I install unity 4.0.5 on new MCS7825.Use the Unity uninstall tool and then build the server based on Unity 3.1.6?Problem is I do not have 3.1.6 CD's available.I know I can get the Apps/Service pak CD's on line but would that be enough to complete the "downgrade"? Reason is 3.1.6 is backed up by DIRT.Thanks

I am not clear on what you want to do. What I think is you have a Unity 3.1(6) Dirt Backup and you want do a Dirt restore.

If I am right, then you would rebuild the Unity server as a 3.1(6) server with the cd image that you can download from cco. Look for "Images of Cisco Unity 3.1 CDs" on this link http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/unity-31

The OS can be any windows 2000 server cd. The message store is Exchange 2000. The data store is either MSDE 2000 or SQL 2000 depending on the number of ports you purchased.

If you ONLY have 3.x license now, you cannot upgrade to Unity 4.x with the cd images; you have to order the upgrade kit - http://www.cisco.com/upgrade

As for the MCS server, check this link to make sure that your server will be sufficient. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_data_sheet0900aecd802132ef.html

You are correct on what I'm trying to do.For the Exchange store,MSDE 2000 could I use Cd's from 4.0.5???What I have to do is install 3.1.6 on a new server W/uSB dongle,Do a DIRT restore. Then upgrade the server from 3.1.6 to 4.0.5.(I do have the upgrade kit for that)Don't I need the keys when I install datastore and messagestore??
