Unity Inter-Digit Timer

When you dial the Unity voice mail pilot number, and Unity answers. Unity states "you may dial an extension at any time". Most users are slow in entering the extension and Unity responds with "invalid extension", because the user did not have enough time to enter all the digits before the timer expired.

MY QUESTION: Is there an inter-digit timer that can be changed to allow the user more time between entering the digits. In CM it's the T302 timer. Anything like that in Unity?

For outside callers you can adjust how many milliseconds Unity will wait for additional digits on a per call handler basis. this is on the call input page for the call handler in question - it's the "milliseconds to wait for additional digits" - it's 1500 by default. You can use BulkEdit to change it for all call handlers in the system if you need to.

In a related note, Unity 4.1 has pretty granular options for first digit timeout and interdigit timeout for subscribers as well - they are adjustable on a per user basis. These are part of the "accessibility options" we added to 4.1 along with definable prompt speed, configurable menu timeouts and retires among other things.

Thanks! I was overlooking the obvious! I changed the opening greeting from 1500 to 3000 and it works like a charm.

I have a similar issue where outside callers complain that the sign-in doesn't accept their ID intermittently.

If I increase the timeout on the Opening Greeting CH, will this carry through to the sign-in CH that is accessed from the Opening Greeting ?

If not, is there a way for me to access this setting for the sign-in CH directly ?

There is no sign in handler - it's a seperate internal conversation (security reasons among other things). In 4.1 and later you can adjust the system wide interdigit and first digit timeouts as well as adjust them on a per user basis which would be used by the subSignIn conversation - the timeouts on the greetings for call handlers do not affect this particular conversation.

Also, I'd look more into what you mean by "doesn't accept their ID intermittently" - that may have nothing to do with digit timeouts...
