Yes, I was refering to the OC-3 and above interfaces. I thought 3800 series were, in a way, upgrade from the 3700 series, which supports the optical interfaces.
If you don't mind spending some money on a text, get the "Building Cisco Metro Optical Networks (METRO)" from Cisco Press. Its a great text, It reviews voice and SONET basics, focuses on the ONS 15454 platform, and has good stuff about DWDM. Enjoy....

Thanks for the help. I am guessing that the ONS 15454 OC3 IR 1310 card will accept the multimode input. Will the box transmit this signal over the aggregate if the multimode span is short(30 meters)?
