So I tried this new firmware release on a RV130W I had, reset it to a default state and programmed it exclusively with the wizard. The only two modifications beyond the wizard setup were to reset the router IP to 192.168.0.1 from 192.168.1.1 and to ...
I received release notification for this firmware, but all of the download links here are dead: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/routers/rv130-vpn-router/model.html#~tab-downloads Release notes aren't yet available, but I assume they'll be relea...
I've found a few easily repeatable bugs for Cisco to address in the RV320's next firmware release:
Bandwidth management:
- creating rate control rules for WAN1 restricts the performance to excessively low levels; eg: setting upstream & downstream ru...
Unless you're responding to someone else, this whole thread is about L2TP over IPSec VPN configuration. The other brands I mentioned are easy to configure and work fine with pure GUI configuration of Win10 client connections (no CLI mods or override...
Windows 10, in a default state without command line modifications, will use AES-128 for L2TP IPsec with no issues. I have converted a half dozen or more sites from Cisco RV130/320/340 routers to Ubiquiti Edgerouters and even MikroTik routers with fu...
As a side note, the RV320's VPN performance is not a platform limitation. The Ubiquiti Edgerouter Lite uses basically the same hardware and currently does ~35Mb through its L2TP server, and its PPTP caps around 20Mb on it when tested via Totusoft LAN...
Neither the RV130x or RV320 are "blazing" when it comes to VPN performance, but in comparing their built in PPTP servers on current firmware the RV320 is dramatically worse--around 3Mb bandwidth vs ~10Mb--than the RV130.This has been a problem for ye...
As a further update to this thread re: modern WAN-LAN routing speeds on this product line, I set up a RV130W yesterday on a Shaw 600/100 Mb cable connection and was pulling full ~650 Mb / 110 Mb speeds via Speedtest.net testing after install. The rou...
