I have two questions about how input rate is calculated:On a switch when you do a show int gi x/x, how is the 30 second input/output rate calculated? How often is the switch actually sampling the the input/output rates to come up with the 30 second ...
We have a 10Mb MPLS line connected to an 1841 router, the interface is set up for 100Mb/full. I have a shaping policy set up on the interface, however the provider is claiming that we're bursting to over 10Mb of traffic, can someone please verify th...
I'm having some weird issues with our 3560 that's connected to an MPLS line. The speed of the port plugged into the providers equipment is 100Mb, but we're only allocated 10Mb of bandwidth from them, I tried to police our traffic out of the port usi...
Can someone please verify that my QoS settings are correct? I'm prioritizing VoIP traffic (DSCP 46/COS5) over a 100Mb Layer 2 metro ethernet line, the phones are all Avaya VoIP phones. The reason I'm asking is that the voice quality is terrible and...

Thanks that makes sense. You said it counts the number of packets...so does it assume some packet size to get the rate or is it sampling packets to get an average size? Or does it also keep track of total bits received and just averages that out?
I don't mean to hijack the thread but I had the exact same issue last week, have a floating static route took over when an MPLS line went down, when it came back up the static route was still in effect. I fixed it by removing the static route and re...
