Hi, "sh ver" not showing the DRAM size as 4 GB is expected. However, you can continue using 4 GB DRAM as it is supported. " Cisco IOS Software supports a maximum of 2 GB of addressable memory. More than 2 GB of memory will be available for future capabilities and features." http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps10538/qa_c67_553891_ps10536_Products_Q_and_A_Item.html It will show up properly in the next generation IOS. It will not run on the NPE-G1 The way you differentiate between an NPE-G1 and a NPE-G2 image is by the letter "p" in the image name. The image which contains "p" is for NPE-G2. For example, c7200p-adventerprisek9-mz.152-4.S1.bin is an NPE-G2 image whereas c7200-adventerprisek9-mz.152-4.S1.bin is compatible with NPE-G1 and other NPEs. -Dheeraj

Hi Aman, Will a shut and no shut put the interface in up/up state? CSCsf31178 matches your symptoms. Fixed in 12.4(03g),12.4(08c), 12.4(07d) and above in the mainline version. You may try upgrading the IOS to one of the latest mainline IOS release. Hope it helps. If it doesn't, could you copy paste the interface configuration from both ends? Cheers, Dheeraj

Hi, You can directly decompress the IOS image onto the DRAM using xmodem/ymodem or tftpdnld. However, this can be done only from rommon mode. The disadvantage of doing this is that, if at all the switch reboots in the future, it will not come up on its own as there is no IOS image locally present on the flash or on the bootflash from which it can boot from. Hi Dimitri, You can go for the 12.3(26) IOS on the 2611XM router. It requires 96 MB of DRAM and 32 MB of flash I do not think we will lose out on an important feature as 12.2 T train has merged into the 12.3 mainline. 12.3(26) will pretty much have everything what the 12.2(15)T17 has.
