thanks Reza, the issues are being reported as TCP retransmissions and TCP timeouts. However my pings are solid and all switchport interfaces on the network path are not showing any packet drops or problems e.g speed duplex etc. All totally normal,
just realised that I did not have 'ip dhcp snooping trust' configured on the facing switches uplink port, so that switch was blocking DHCP for this switch thus the binding table never populated.Thanks guys for your help anyway.
