Does the 1700 and 1800 series WAPS need the controller to run or is that just to configure the device?

I just upgrade to 1.0.6.2 and had the same problem. I can access the WAP321 via FIrefox but not IE-11 or Microsoft Edge ( running windows 10). I have not yet tried on a Windows 7 IE system.
