Doh, ICMPv6 destination unreachable is type 1 and packet too big is type 2 unlike ICMP (v4) where both functions fall underneath ICMP type 3 destination unreachable (because of DF bit set). Good catch.

Did you do "no ip unreachables" or "no ipv6 unreachables"? Did you issue those commands on the interfaces the traffic would egress the router?

Are you able to ping Google's IPv6 DNS servers? If so, try varying the MTU to ensure that path MTU discovery is working through the ASA.

This was because the device was running 3.13. I've learned this feature wasn't added until 3.17. In case anyone else finds this thread, make sure you're running an up to date IOS.
