I would not recommend such an construct, because i think Cisco will sooner or later integrate the acano edge into the expressway and if that happens your construct will no longer be supported.
We had to get in contact with Cisco Licensing to get a option key that converted the T1 Codec to a simple C90 Codec. Afterwards it was possible to register it to CUCM.
