I'm wondering if it's possible to configure a router to respond to all ICMP traceroute packets from the specified IP address, i.e. from its loopback interface. The idea is to simplify network management and troubleshooting. A router should reply from ...
I'm wondering if it's possible to assign a privilege level for a PIX user via ACS?For routers it works fine. But since the PIX supports only command authoriztion, I'm not sure how to do it, i.e. assign privilege level 2 for user helpdesk. Is it also p...
Is it possible to block outgoing packets sourced by the router itself?ACLs filter only transit packets. We use 12.2T IOS, thus CPP can't be used.Any suggestions?Vadim

Rick,Thanks for your reply.I'm trying to block all icmp requests coming to the specific host, including those sourced from the router's interface. Are there any other methods to accomplish this w/o using policy routing?Vadim
Rick,It was pretty much a theoretical question. I was trying to find out if there are different ways to block protocols at L2 w/o L3 ACLs. If NCP negotiates L3 protocols that will run over it, there could be a way to influence the negotiation process...
Rick,Thank you for the reply. If non-IP protocols are configured on the interface, is it possible to prevent them from crossing the link by somehow disabling them during NCP negotiation process?Or access list is the only choice in this case?Vadim
