Whenever I connect to the VPN via the VPN client, I can no longer see my local LAN. The VPN is configured for split tunneling so I can get the remote network's resources and the Internet, but no local LAN resources.

make sure your server configuration is correct, your asa has the correct server IP address, and that your server itself doesn't have anything blocking the UDP port for syslog.
