ISDN as Analog ?????

I have two ISDN in a C2611XM... I read at:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/modules/ps2641/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a008007cb4c.html#wp1034845

There is a Note:

Note: If slot 0 is unoccupied, the system treats it as a pair of analog voice ports.

That means that I could use an analog phone connected to that port ???? or connect it to the PBX as FXS/FXO port ???

Andrei.

No, it does not mean that. It means if slot0 is unoccupied and a BRI card is in slot1, the router assigns DSP resources to slot0 as if an analog card (2 ports) were plugged into it. Which means you only have 2 channels of DSP resources left for your BRI card. That's why the recommendation is to put the BRI card in slot0, so you get to use all 4 channels of DSP resources available on the NM-2V.

The newer cards (the NM-HD-2V) and VIC2-2BRI solve this problem of insufficient DSPs for BRI.
