Switch Congestion, Interworking Errors

Dear NetPros,

We have a Cisco AS5350 [4E1s] connected to a Telco PSTN Switch. The E1 type is R2 CAS. Each of the E1s is dedicated to a particular carrier. Now the First, Third and Fourth E1s are all working fine with an Average ASR of over 60%. But the ASR on the Second E1 is only 30%. Our analysis showed that lot of calls are failing on the Second E1 with the Disconnect Text as "Switch Congestion", "Interworking" and "Recovery on Timer Expiry". But the % of calls failing with the Text as "Switch Congestion" is more compared to the other two errors. We have synchronized the numbering plan as per the numbering plan of our Telco. Calls outside the numbering plan and calls with incomplete number of digits will not be accepted by our terminating gateway.

Could someone suggest how these three errors can be resolved so that our ASR on the Second E1 can be improved???

Any help in this area would be highly appreciated.

Cheers

"Switch Congestion" is more on the Termination GW. The problem may be on your gw or Interconnection between the Gw and Telco.

When we run the command "sh cont e1 3/1 timeslots 1-15,17-31" on our terminating gateway to check the Timeslots for the Second E1 all of them are InSvc and the ABCD States of all the Timeslots are showing as "1001". So what could be the problem??

Hi

Try "isdn t310 " in the signaling interface.

Thanks

Arun

If the E1 is working, you will see "InSvc" for all the channels.

May be you can plug in that E1 to another port and monitor how the status goes?

If you still carry on getting that error, meaning that the E1 is not good.

If you can see the improvement, meaning that E1 port is having problem ?
