A UC500 running uc500-advipservicesk9-mz.124-11.XW7 and Cisco Unity Express 7.0.3. When calling into the AA, from internal or external, when you dial an extension or choose an option to be transferred to an extension the caller gets only dead air until the call is picked up by VM or the person answering the phone. I thinking its a bug i want to make sure before i upgrade the system needlessly.

Upgrade the system. Sounds like an issue with ringback tones. Any fix for a problem like that would need CLI intervention, which is not supported.

The fix was changing the transfer command in CUE under the sip subsystem from attended to blind bye-also
UC500-CUE(config)# ccn subsystem sip
UC500-CUE(config-sip)# transfer-mode blind bye-also
