point to point use of SPA 3102's inside a network

I am new to the voip world.

I am trying to link a gate telephone entry keypad that requires POTS across network to ext phone in second building inside of network.

I believe this to work as a hotline type system where when the gate goes off hook to dial it will ring the extension phone in second building

but am having problems geting this to work.. Any help appreciated. Thanks

I may be able to help you configure a pair of SPA3102's.  I am not knowledgable about gate access devices.  Please describe the output from the gate equipment.  Is it just like an analog telephone, i.e. it takes the line off hook and dials?  Is there a specific reason to use a SPA3102 with its analog line attachment port (FXO) instead of a voip only adapter which only has a phone attachment port (FXS)?  Are the two SPA3102's both cabled to a regular network router?  Have you tested the SPA3102's side by side before placing them remotely?

Is all you need to do is establish voice communication between the two SPA3102's?

How have you previously configured the adapters and what problems have you encountered?
