Hi all I am fairly new to using Cisco phones.
I have just purchased a SPA525G with a SPA500S attendance console.
It’s a fairly simple setup as it’s just one office phone and the console buttons on the attendance console are set as simple external speed dial buttons.
One thing that is driving me crazy and I can’t seem to fix as I don’t have the technical knowledge is -
The phone resets every so often and says “Refreshing Voice Components”. Once this happens it wipes all of the settings I’ve put in and speed dials that I spent a lot of time manually putting in on the console.
It’s really frustrating as I’ve manually input everything in a number of times now and it continually resets, is there anyway to stop this from happening? I am setup using RingCentral as my SIP provider.
Many thanks in advance for your responses.

So we can issue claimed analyzed. Your phone is configured to fetch and apply configuration from remote source (Profile Rule: https://cp.ringcentral.com/httpreg/rchttpreg.dll?ipeprov&sn=$SN&pn=$PN) every 1 hour (Resync Periodic: 3600).
You wish to disable it at all, so your local changes will not be lost upon every resync. Most easy way is - just set Provision Enable to No. It will turn off all resync triggers at once.

It seems you have SPA525G2 configured to refresh it's configuration from an external source. You can make local changes, but they gets reverted back on next update. Check values of Profile_Rule* configuration option.

Hi Dan
Thanks for the response that seems exactly like what is happening.
Using the Profile_Rule* configuration option can I just turn this off and it will stop the resetting and refreshing all or is this usually required to be turned on by your SIP provider?
I will look at this and feedback once back at the office tomorrow.
Many thanks!

SIP provider require your phone to be configured specific way to work with particular provider. You may configure it manually, or you may refer configuration source offered by provider. Imagine the requirements will change. In the second case it will work automatically as phone will download modified configuration from provider. In the first case - it's your responsibility to make required changes manually.

Hi Dan
I have just turned off the following -
"Resync On Reset"
"Resync After Upgrade Attempt"
"Resync From SIP"
Should this solve the issue I've been having or should any of these be left on?
Many thanks in advance.

I tried the above listed in my previous post and looked and my phone has reset again :-(

OK, it seems you considered to keep content of Profile Rule * undisclosed. No problem.
"Resync On Reset"
It afects resync of phone configuration after power on - not your case.
"Resync After Upgrade Attempt"
It afects resync of phone configuration after upgrade attempt - not your case.
"Resync From SIP"
It afects resync of phone configuration triggered by SIP request - not your case.
You seems to be affected by periodic refreshment. Did you turned off Resync Periodic ?
Just to make sure - are you aware of existence of Administration Guide ?

Hi Dan
Thank you I have just downloaded the administration guide provided so will take a look.
Resync at Random Delay:600
Resync Periodic: 3600
Resync Error Retry Delay: 3600
Forced Resync Delay:14400
I also had the following text in the Profile Rule Box -
https://cp.ringcentral.com/httpreg/rchttpreg.dll?ipeprov&sn=$SN&pn=$PN
Should I remove this and set the "Resync" values to 0?
Dan thank you for all of your replies here it is greatly appreciated!

Perfect I will do that now, I thought I would have to keep the RingCentral provisioning on but if that solves it I am more than happy to turn off 👍👍
Thanks again and I am thinking this will solve the issue, apologies for the noob questions its my first entanglement with Cisco phones.
