I have IP Communicator running against a UC500 box in my office fine.
I have a client with a similar config. They are using a Netscrren firewall with VPN.
I can ping and access the GUI for the UC500. I have added the CIPC into the config so the phone is listed but I cannot get it to register to the call manager.
Under device I keep getting either unavail or standby
Any help or ideas.
Thanks
Todd

What IP did you assign the TFTP server over the VPN? Can you ping that IP when you are using the VPN?

The TFTP IP in the phone preferences is 172.30.100.254 which is the voice VLAN and the IP of the Voice VLAN on the UC500. I can access the GUI using that IP over VPN.
I think there is a code issue. I have no issue on my UC500 but I am on 7 code and the phone registers in the GUI as a CIPC whereas on the other system it is unknown.

Try a debug tftp events on the uc500 that is having the problem. That will tell you if the request is getting there. If it is, I would then try debug tftp packets to make sure the files are making it back.
