Ringtones issue on spa504g

Hi,

I have a 504g with the latest 7.4.6 firmware and I am experimenting with selecting ringtones using SIP Alert_Info values and have found what appears to be a bug. The Admin guide states that default 10 ringtones can be changed by replacing the tone selection with a tftp URL like thus 'w=tftp://192.168.0.1/CustomRing.srt'.

This sort of works, as long as you only want the ringtone loaded by the first URL to be played. As soon as you add any subsequent tftp ringtones, you only get the first ringtone played.

Eg.  Set Ring5 to be 'w=tftp://192.168.0.1/CustomRing.srt' and set Ring6 to be 'w=tftp://192.168.0.1/CarHorn.srt'. Regardless of wether you supply an Alert Info of Ring5 or Ring6, you only hear the tone loaded to Ring5 played.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Roland

Hi Roland,

The SPA phones only cache one ringtone. This means that if you have the phone request ringtone-a from a server for one call and then for the next call to request ringtone-b, the phone will not play ringtone-b until it has been downloaded. In other words, if the server is busy or the network is busy when the phone requests the ringtone, the phone will not have a ringtone to play for a period and will appear to have a silent ring.

Please verify if a second or third call to the phone will cause it to play CarHorn.srt

Also verify on the server, that it is receiving an servicing a request for CarHorn.srt

Lastly, verify that CarHorn.srt plays properly on the phone by configuring with the web-UI.

Regards,

Patrick

You only need one reference document for all SPA phone firmware, information, and utilities.

Patrick,

Both ringtones are accessible and can be played by the phone, I have confirmed this.

My original observation persists in that the phone always plays the ringtone located in the earlier 'tftp' URL.

For example, If I set RING8=w=tftp://172.22.11.1/Tone1.srt and RING9=w=tftp://172.22.11.1/Tone2.srt, I always get Tone1 played when selecting RING9, even if it's the first call I make after a restart (so it can't be cached).

If I then move Tone2 to say RING5, then try and select RING8 (which was playing before when I tried to select RING9), I get Tone2 playing.

So I can confirm again that configuring multiple tftp URLs in different custom ring slots creates an issue where selecting one of those custom ring tones causes the ringtone declared FIRST to be played.
