Hello
I've a SPA112 directely connected to an IP phone without any network trafic.
The IP phone regurarly reset his ethernet port (hardware reset) because there is no trafic. Then we can see the SPA112 ethernet led OFF for 2 ou 3 seconds.
After one week of this treatment, SPA112 is frozen :
- no more web interface
- do not answer to ping request
- line phone is also out of order
We solve the problem by activing SAP112 providing option, and pointed it on the IP phone (witch luckily don't care).
So there is some trafic on ethernet. So IP phone does not hardly reset its ethernet port. So 3 weeks after, SPA112 still run.

I'm not sure I understand your network topology in full.
There is analog phone connected to SPA112 and SPA112 is connected by cross-wired Ethernet cable to an undisclosed type of IP phone.
The IP phone in question create spurious link-up/link down events on the interface (even there is no traffic, there is no reason to reset the interface, but it's not forbidden to do so).
Right ?
Assuming I understood your description correctly - what's your question ?

Hi Dan, thanks for your answer.
Yes you understand network topology.
The questions may be :
- is that normal that SPA112 is frozen
- is there another mean than activating SPA112 providing (which may disturb IP phone)
My main intention was to share experience and solution.

Well, it's not easy to give you "correct" answer.
OK, I will speak for myself. We considered SPA112 not stable enough for regular deployment yet. SPA112 stability is delicate matter.
SPA112 can be considered "working" in casual environment,.But don't try to push device outside their zone of comfort.
There's a positive progress - latest firmware is better than the previous one ...
You discovered workaround by self. Another workaround - connect a chap small switch inbetween SPA112 and the IP phone. It cost few bucks only and it will filter spurious up/down line transitions.

Sorry, it seems I don't understand the question.

Thanks again for the sincerity of your answer.
We've tried latest version available for downloading. Same performance...
IP Phone switch off/on his link every minutes, which is very rude and we do not find any option to stop it. We suppose that it generates many treatments to SPA112.

(sorry, my english is very.... french) Do you know if there is another option on SPA112 which can generate trafic on Ethernet link

IP Phone switch off/on his link every minutes
Then consider cheap switch between it and SPA112 ...

As my English is Czech instead, we should expect interoperability issues here ;-)

Yes, there are many. You can request syslog and debug messages to be sent to network, your phone may ask NTP server for time, a TFTP/FTP/HTTP server for either provisioning file or new firmware, REGISTER or SUBSCRIBE may help as well ...
But I recommend just to turn on syslog&debug messages (highest level). Or use switch to connect an undisclosed IP phone and SPA112 as mentioned above.
