SPA8800 failback with IP Phones
My scenario is - SPA8800 with all 4 FXO used for PSTN lines. Then lines are setup as trunks in out FreePBX server. I have several SPA942 and SPA303 phones setup and registered with the FreePBX server. The calls to the PSTN lines route inbound to the FreePBX server and call routing works fine. I can also make outbound calls from the IP Phones without issue.
My questions are related to an outage of the FreePBX server and how call work in failback mode. I do not have analog phone connected to the FXS ports so that option is not available.
- Outbound calls during and outage - What I think would work is to do is register a second line presence on the IP Phone, called “FailBack” and have that line register to the SPA8800. This should allow users to make outbound calls during an outage. I believe I could even edit the dial plan to require the 9 first for an outside line so the user would not need to remember to not dial the prefix. I understand that internal call routing to other IP Phones will not work during the outage, just PSTN calls will work
- Inbound calls during and outage – I would like the inbound call routed by the SPA8800 to ring an IP phone. If all lines could ring the same phone that would be great.
