Best training course or book for VPN troubleshooting?

I'd like to better understand the Cisco VPN configuration and troubleshooting issues as needed.

Are there any books anyone could recommend that will help me 1.) understand how VPN works, such as the different phases, etc, 2.) what to look for in troubleshooting connecitvity issues.

Is there a specific class I can take that would provide this training? I've taken Global Knowledge courses before but don't know of any other partners to consider.
