Accessing local network resources while connected to a remote VPN network

I access office network resources via a Cisco VPN connection from my home office. Unfortunately, while connected, I can no longer access network resources on my local home-office network.

I've got a Win2k machine and VPN Client v3.03(A).

First thing is to upgrade to the Client 3.5.2.

From the Options > Properties > General tab of the Cisco VPN Client, check the "Allow local LAN access" button .

Finally, try using drive mappings back to the office, rather than browsing - I've found it to be noticeably faster.

Are you sure this isn't a security setting enforced by the network admins?

Find out if you're tunneling all traffic - check the statistics section of your connection status for a 0.0.0.0 network - and if so, work with your VPN admin to change your profile to allow for split tunneling. You might also have an overlapping range of addresses (e.g., your soho LAN is 192.168.10.0 /24 and your office LAN is 192.168.10.0 /24) in which case you'll need to use a different addressing scheme at home.
