My company wishes to have firewall and vpn capabilities on our new router and am not sure about how to go about obtaining the IOS features.

one way to verify whether the current ios is cabable of performing firewall and vpn is to do "sh ver", in particular, the system image file.
another way is to verify by typing the command and view the option, in case the router doesn't support, it will show en error.
in order to verify, issue the commands below from the config mode:
"crypto ?"
"ip inspect ?"
