Trying to setup a vpn on our 5515 ASA for Azure. I have downloaded the azure text configuration file for the cisco asa and am wondering how we append the current config to include the azure text? I am unable to play with trial and error as it is in a working environment so do not have space for error.

You would have to look at your current infrastructure to see what config you already have. I am assuming that you are looking at the sample config here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/vpn-gateway/vpn-gateway-3rdparty-device-config-cisco-asa
You probably have the LAN, WAN interfaces and default route configured. Follow the rest of the steps like adding the objects, ACL's, NAT and crypto rules. If you already have a running ASA, just paste the config one by one to the running config.
