ASA and DHCP problem

Hi

Ive got an ASA5540 as an IPsec termination point using a win2k3 server to allocate IP 's via DHCP and to update DNS. The problem im experiencing is that the end client obtains an IP but the hostname is not being registered against the DHCP leaase. I think what is causing this is that the ASA interface MAC address and not the end client MAC address is being presented within the bootp packet. Any thoughts or views how i can get around this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi

I have similar problem. Did you (or anyone)have a solution for this?

Our DHCP and DNS is in the same server and DHCP lease shows that the VPN client got an address but client's name didn't get proper format, i.e. if client is named userpc.domain.net DHCP lease shows that it's named â–¡userpc.domain.net.

If I try to ping userpc with its ip (ping -a 10.1.1.100) from the inside network the dns resolves ♀userpc.domain.net and it cannot be pinged with that name obviously.

Thanks for any help.
