Can Not Transmit Data on AnyConnect VPN Client

Okay so first let stat with telling you I am running the following:

Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client 2.5.1025

On my MAC OS X Version 10.6.5 (Snow Leopard)

My issue is beyond strange to me and hoping you can help.  So I had no issues downloading the client, installing it, or even connecting to my network.  My issues started the moment I tried to utilize any resources from my network.  My sys admin was able to ping me from the network and see me as connected.  But when I attempt to get DNS for any of our servers no love.  Plus I am not able to connect to or ping any of the servers.  I did run a Trace-rout and found that packets are were going up the VPN pipe.  Any ideas here would be beyond appreciated as I have run to the end of the rainbow with Google.

Thank you,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Your description matches the default behavior of any cisco vpn client but this can be tweaked.

The generic solution is described in the link below:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a0080702992.shtml

You may also want to check the release notes for the AnyConnect client on CCO:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpn_client/anyconnect/anyconnect23/release/notes/anyconnect23rn.html

Not entirely your version but perhaps still relevant.

regards,

Leo

I would start from getting the configuration from the VPN server to see if it has been correctly configured.

Are you the only one having the issue, or you are the first user to test the VPN connection?

If the traffic is going through the VPN pipe as advised, it sounds like issue is on the headend server.

We have others who are on the VPN all the time, including other MAC users.  I am the first to ever have this issue and we cannot figure it out.  Any help would be appreciated.

As for the VPN server I am sending that recommendation over to our sys admin to review the settings now.  But, with other Mac users on the same systems I cannot imagine that is the issue.

I just noticed a big typo in my original post.  When I did the trace-route the traffic did not go up the pipe.  Instead it went directly out to the internet.  I know this is a big typo and makes a world of difference.  Sorry everyone!  Hope this possibly sheds some light on what could be wrong.

Hey everyone thought you should know that I fixed the issue on my own after some playing.  What it ended up being was that my IP scheme was the same as one used in my organization on their local net.  I did not realize this as the one I was connecting to not the same different.  Once I changed my IP scheme for my local net to a 10.x.x.x the connection worked perfectly.  Thank you all for your help it is really appreciated!!
