Cannot connect to VPN w/ Linksys router

I am using a Linksys WCG200 Cable Gateway and trying to connect to my corporate Cisco VPN. As far as I know, all my account settings are correct, but the connection stalls at "Negotiating security policies", repeats this step several times unsuccessfully, and fails with the error message "Reason 413: User authentication failed."

Despite the message above, I don't believe the problem is an account setting, as I was able to successfully connect to the VPN from an outside high-speed line here at work.

I have tried connecting with the following router settings, and all combinations: firewall on/off, VPN passthrough on/off, and forwarding ports as recommended by Linksys to my laptop. I don't have any software firewalls running.

I feel like I've basically tried everything, and any suggestions or insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated...

A few other notes:

Windows XP

VPN client version 4.6.01.0019

connecting via IPSec over UDP (have also tried TCP port 10000)

I haven't had any trouble pinging the remote host.

has anyone successfully connected to the vpn head end from behind a nat/pating router? basically, do we know upd encapsulation aka nat traversal is enabled?

SOHO router best practices for cisco software vpn client:

Make sure you are running the latest router firmware.

disable any ipsec/vpn passthrough features as they generally interfere.

if you still have problems, i would search linksys's knowledge base.

I believe NAT traversal is enabled. I did try disabling the VPN passthrough feature, although I wasn't able to update the firmware -- there was no such update on Linksys's website.

Actually, searching Linksys's knowledge base is the first thing I did. And I've also contacted their live support. Neither had any suggestions that worked...
