Cisco 678 DSL CPE issue(s)

Looking for CPE Commander 1.4.2 as referenced:

However, the downloads section does not contain this

file. Does anyone have a valid link to this file?

Also, is there an alternate Reset methond for this

CPE, as I CANNOT get Ctrl-C at the 1/2 second Alarm

Light method to work. Always goes to the login

screen. TIA...

Hello,

check this link for the download:

postyware.dyndns.org - /cisco-firmware/Cisco CPE Commander/

http://postyware.dyndns.org/cisco-firmware/Cisco%20CPE%20Commander/

HTH,

GP

Ah! Yes. Now, if I can just PW Reset I can use

this thing. I absolutly cannot catch it to use "e6"

command to wipe the PW. Anyone know if there is a

Reset button/switch inside? Otherise I've got a 678

paperweight on my hands. TIA...

Hello,

you might want to try and download the latest version of HyperTerminal, see if that helps with using the Ctrl+C key:

HyperTerminal Private Edition

http://www.hilgraeve.com/htpe/

By the way, you are using this procedure for the PW recovery ?

Password Recovery Procedure for the Cisco 6xx CPE

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/474/pswdrec_6xx.html

Regards,

GP

Ok, did all that. I don't know what the issue is;

but no matter how fast I am, it comes up to the:

"User Access Verification"

"Password"

prompt. I guess I'll just unload it somewhere like

eBay. Makes it hard to recommend if they are all

such a PITA....

Ok, heres one for everbody. I kicked the thing, by

accident of course. Decided to give it one more try

and IT WORKED. After several weeks, kicking it

seemed to fix the problem.

One other thing I noticed is that HyperTerm MUST be

set for 38400 for it to get to RMON mode. If it's

9600, it WILL NOT WORK for RMON, at least for me.

Just thought someone might find it amusing that a

little hardware abuse sometimes fixes things ;)
