Hi :

Almost a month ago I installed windows 10 evaluation  teck view on one of my computer, I installed the Cisco AnyConnect , in the beginning it was working very nice then a few days ago started giving me error "cisco anyconnect failed to initialize connection subsystem ".

I followed a video that had instruction on how to solve this problem I went in to the registry and created a key under the internet setting with the value 1 still the Cisco anyconnect give me the same message. I also uninstall and reinstall the Cisco anyconnect several times no result.

I posted this question on Microsoft community for windows 10 also, I was advised to post the question in Cisco Community too. I hope somebody has solution for this problem.

Thanks

Today I am seeing this same error in Windows 8.1 - after installing the latest Windows updates.

"Failed to initialize connection subsystem."

Any ideas?

Running in compatibility mode resolves this.  I found these instructions here... http://christierney.com/2015/02/11/cisco-anyconnect-failed-to-initialize-connection-subsystem/

  1. Close the Cisco AnyConnect Window and the taskbar mini-icon
  2. Right click vpnui.exe in the “Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client” folder. (I have it in “C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\”
  3. Choose Troubleshoot compatibility.
  4. Choose “Try recommended settings”.
  5. The wizard suggests Windows 8 compatibility.
  6. Click “Test Program”.  This will open the program.
  7. Close
