Hi, I'm not able to use Cisco Anyconnect to connect to my company's VPN, which uses SSO (Single Sign-On).
After starting my company's Anyconnect VPN connection, I was able to enter and successfully authenticate my credentials. After this however, Chrome reported this failure:
This site can’t be reached
localhost refused to connect.
The address bar shows:
http://localhost:29786/api/sso/...
Any suggestions on how to enable Chrome localhost connections?
Is anyone is able to use Cisco Anyconnect on a Chromebook to connect to VPN?

so the address bar in the cisco anyconnect client is showing localhost? if so then that is the issue, You need to get the correct URL from your IT team and use that.

There is no additional URL needed to connect to our company's VPN.
Cisco Anyconnect on my Samsung Galaxy S21 connects to the same without issues.

Well then localhost is either the profile name, or the connection is being redirected to some other service running locally. Could you generate a DART file and upload it here, you can refer to this LINK if you are unsure on how to do this. Also, I suggest reaching out to your company's IT team to check if there are any restrictions on devices that can connect to AnyConnect, also they might already have a solution for your issue.

It is failing on my Chromebook running ChromeOS at home, I would think AnyConnect lacks updated ChromeOS support.
Can you can confirm if Android AnyConnect supports ChromeOS?
DART looks pretty old and pre-dates Android support.

Hi, I have the same problem. When our company VPN relied on username and password, it used to work. Since they moved to SSO based authentication, where the VPN client redirects to a browser page for SSO authentication, which works fine, and then it redirects back to the VPN client using localhost:29786 etc etc it fails. Basically the browser is Chrome running in chromeOS and the VPN client is an android app running in the ARCVM virtual machine. There is supposed to be NAT connectivity between the VM and the host, but going back into the VM doesnt seem to work. I suspect if we can port map this port between the two systems it would work but i dont know how to do that. Also i dont know if this port number is the same always. Any ideas on this would be helpful. Just FYI, instead of using the ChromeOS's chrome browser, i installed a different browser (firefox) within the Android subsystem (using the play store), chose that as the default browser in android settings in the chromebook. But even that doesnt work. Same error. Both firefox and vpn client are android apps, but for some reason the localhost redirect fails there too.
