Can anyone explain to me or point me in the direction where I can find info on how to connect a VPN from a Netgear DG834G to a windows Cisco 4.8.01 client.
I used the VPN wizard on the Netgear and created a connection with the following config:
Secure Association Main Mode
Authentication Method: Pre-shared Key
Encryption Protocol: 3DES
Authentication Protocol: SHA-1
Diffie-Hellman (DH) Group: Group 2 (1024 bit)
Local Identity Type: WAN IP address
Remote Identity Type: IP address
There aren?t many options on the Cisco VPN client. I tried using Group Authentication but what do I use for a name, I presumed the password would be pre-shared key?
I also tried editing the Netgear config and using a Local and Remote identity and putting that in the name but I?m not having much luck.
Any advice would be much appreciated ? can it be done ?
Thanks
Steve

Steve,
The Cisco VPN Client supports the following Cisco VPN devices only.
?Cisco VPN 3000 Concentrator Series, Version 3.0 and later.
?Cisco PIX Firewall, Version 6.2.2(122) or Version 6.3(1).
?Cisco IOS Routers, Version 12.2(8)T and later
So, it is not possible to cofigure the Cisco VPN Client to work with Netgear VPN Servers.
Please refer the release notes for details:

I hope it helps.
Regards,
Arul
