You can install the Windows Desktop agent kit on a Windows Server but if there isn't a server license available, it will fail to register with MC and you won't be able to manage it. That's when you'd need to purchase an additional license.
The only difference between CSA Windows Server and Desktop agent kits is what groups they join when they register with the Management Center.
The licenses included and the ability to track them changed with different versions of CSA starter packs.
Which version do you have?

Hi Follow,
Desktop Agent and Server License's are different.
You can however get a 30 day license for a server or a Desktop and to try the agent out.

Yes, you need to purchase one server license and install it on the CSAMC for each server that will register and be managed by that CSAMC.
The Testmode Server agent kit should work fine for the actual install.
