I can't figure out how to set the default item shown on the drop-down menu of the clientless SSL VPN (webVPN) toolbar of the ASA 5510 I manage.
As you can see in the picture I'm attaching below, what the ASA shows is cifs:// . I'd want http:// instead, since many users do not notice this and try to access http pages while having the default cifs:// selected. This results in the error message "There was a problem with the request." that just leaves users stuck.
A simple solution is to have http:// as the default protocol shown in the drop-down menu, but I've been unsuccessfull in finding where this option is set.
Anybody can help with that? Thanks a lot in advance,

Hi Piero,
Do you see http in the dropdown ?
If not, enable url-entry:
group-policy my-policy attributes
webvpn
url-entry enable
If you do see it but it is not at the top (or it is at the top but not the default), what software version are you running? I checked 8.4.2.8 and I see http as default item / top item.

Hi Herbert,
thanks a lot for your reply. http access is enabled on my webVPN, yet your suggestion to check whether http was enabled or not gave me the right hint for solving my problem: in my infrastructure file access is not done through VPN, therefore I don't need cifs. I just disabled file access on the portal configuration of the webVPN (i.e., I used your suggestion the other way round), and this resulted in not having cifs (and ftp) on the drop-down menu. The result is that now http shows up as defalt protocol, which is what I wanted
Thanks a lot indeed, cheers,
Piero

Hi, we're experiencing the same problem of the original question, users don't notice the leading protocol id of the url they're entiring, but we cannot adopt Piero's workaround. We need to set "rdp://" as default protocol. Our environment is double (act/pasv failover) ASA 5510 with 9.1 software. Any suggestions? Thanks, Flavio
