Differences and questions between Altiga C5 and Cisco 3005

Hi VPN gurus,

Can someone help me with the following questions. I am trying to make a decision to buy a 3005 or a C5. Your expertize will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

- What are the differences between the C5 and 3005 besides the obvious?

- The 4.1.7E release notes says that I cannot run this release in a C5. Why? Does it require more than 32MB RAM?

- Can I upgrade a C5 to 64MB RAM?

- I also read that there is 4.7. Is it the same as 4.1.7E?

If Cisco says the C5 cannot run a certain OS, do not attempt to run it. I imagine that Cisco is going to end support for the C5 on the assumption that it is of a certain age - similar to how PIX OS 7.0 is not supported on pix 520's, which predate all the current pix firewall models.

Buying a 3005 would seem to be safer.

4.7 has more features than 4.1.7e. Cisco is still patching the earlier 4.1 train, hence the 4.1.7e release (and if there is another bug, a likely 4.1.7f would likely be released)
