Hi,
as a default, Cisco IOS expects exactly the same passwords on both Devices that are doing PPP CHAP authentications between them.
What i need is a mutual authentication of both sides using a different password for each authentication. Assuming two routers,R1 and R2, R1 should authenticate R2 using password 1 and R2 should authenticate R1 using password 2.
Is there any way in IOS to do this?
Thank's for your Help in Advance!

Are you running ISDN or point-to-point links?

Yes - over isdn you can use the host name of the devices, or specific passwords in dialer map statements!
over pt-pt links, I'm not sure if you can have anything other than a static password - but I'm not 100%.
You should test it out.
