Getting a local IP from a remote location

Hello everyone, this is my first post on the Cisco forums and I'm hoping you can help me please!

I am trying to establish a connection to a router that isn't in my home, so that I get a local IP (192.168.1.xxx) from that router/DHCP server.  My intentions are to be on the same network, except from my own home. Is this possible?  I'm sure it's a simple solution, but I just finished getting my Cisco certification for networking from High School  and I'm unsure how to go about with this one.

The only way to do it is by configuring remote access vpn to the router.

You can then establish a vpn connection from outside your home network towards the router, and access devices in your home network.
