IE stops working after VPN Client 4.0.4 install

After installing the VPN Client internet browsing in IE stops working. I can ping domains on the internet but cannot browse them.

Browsing still works when using a dialup connection, and VPN connections work when using both dialup and ADSL connections.

I've installed the latest IE updates but it has not helped. Running Win2k Pro SP4 using an ADSL connection.

Any suggestions?

What version of IE are you using?

Examine the IE settings to make sure that the auto detect of proxy settings is unchecked, and that if you are using a proxy and/or socks services that they are defined correctly.

I assume that name service lookup is working properly, becasue you stated that you can ping domains. Is there any other application other than IE that is having issues since the vpn client install?
