Impact of IOS upgradation in cisco FIrewall

Hi,

we want to upgrade IOS of cisco firewall 5585 form 8.4(2) to 9.1(3). This device is used for VPN firewall. So there are to many ACL and VPN configuration. What would be the impact in configuration if i upgrade the IOS from 8.4(2) to 9.1(2) first and the 9.1(3).

Please suggest regarding this.

this depends on the features and configurations you are using.
Please read the release notes which are accessible for each version.

Maybe it would be recommended when you do the upgrade step-by-step (depends on the release notes).

hi ,

we have ACL, NAT, Remote access VPN for cisco  VPN client and site to site VPN . we want to migrate from 8.4.2 to 9.1.2 first and then 9.1.3 ( which is mentioned in documentation of cisco firewall IOS up gradation process). now what would be the impact for the configuration which mentioned above. what i mean if we go with actual process then all the configuration will be migrated successfully or we have to change the configuration manually after IOS up gradation.

No manual configuration change should be necessary. the cli parser will automatically modify any changed command syntax.

If it takes exception to any commands you have in the configuration, there will be a text file created on the ASA disk0:/ - upgrade_startup_errors <timestamp>. You can and should review it for any issues.
