I know the use of the Cisco Secure VPN client will not allow support for non-IP traffic But how can I encrypt IPX traffic across a Cisco based VPN?

I believe you would have to establish GRE tunnels to transport IPX and Appletalk.

I may not be the best person to answer this, but here's my thoughts.

I am assuming that you are using a site-to-site VPN.

You should probably use Cisco GRE to encapsultate the IPX traffic in an IP packet and then send this to the VPN device for transmission across the insecure network. It should be possible to do both steps on a router running the IOS Firewall.

Just my $0.02

If the network topology is LAN-to-LAN, using GRE is a good idea. But if I were a roaming client, Should I bring a cisco router and change the configuration each time when I go to a new place??? Impossible. I am wondering if I could use L2TP over IPSec on the win2k platform, or win-nt, or win98. I am doing the tests about this.

Enable PPTP (GRE) on the Cisco VPN device. Install and configure Microsoft's DUN 1.3 or > client for PPTP and enable IPX.
