Is IPSec VPN the right solution for this?

Hello - apologies in advance for such a basic question.  I did search the forums but I couldn't find what I needed.

I have a WRVS4400N router.  I want to use it to connect to a VPN server so all local network traffic goes through the VPN.

I tried using the VPN wizard to set this up, but I don't have admin access to the remote router, so that isn't going to work for me.  I do have an L2TP IPSec pre-shared key, I just cannot figure out how to configure my router to do this.

Is there a document you can point me to that will help me figure out what I'm doing, and how to do it?

Thanks for any help

Hello,

As far as I can see from the data sheet: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps9923/ps9931/data_sheet_c78-496737.html  the WRVS4400N does not support L2TP or PPTP only IPsec as a VPN client.

It can pass-through L2TP, but it cannot use it for a VPN connection.

Hope this helps, Peter
