ISDN and dial-up solution question.

Hi all,

Im here because I need help with specific problem related to remote access. :)

We have IBM server which we use to connect remote ISDN and dial-up users. All communication and authentication is done on this specific HW. But what we want is to separate only HW. Of course if it is possible. Idea is to use something (Cisco router f.i.) to connect

outside ISDN and dial-up users to our network but without authentication and to route this connections to our same IBM server where authentication will appear. What we really need to do is separate HW involved with ISDN and dial-up modems and HW of server itself and to achieve that IBM server will still see ISDN and dial-up modems like connected directly to it.(What is in present). On the other hand we dont want to build solution like this with one router with mica modems and PRI and do everything on it.

Any idea?

Hi

If I am not mistaken, u want a solution in which u need a dial-in access router with external AAA auth. server...Am I right?

You need a Cisco Router 2811 with NM-1ce1t1PRI card.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5881/index.html

The authencation requests can be directed to your IBM server using AAA redirect.

Hope it helps.

Hi JD,

what I really want to achieve is

to see on my HW IBM analog and digital modems

which are installed on the other HW (f.i. Cisco router). Or in any way map these remote modems

through TCP/IP. But I dont know if it is possible.

I know that this is specific problem.

Any ideas?

Hi

Are you saying that you want to use same Analog/ISDN modems for the same?

Then you need to go for something line NM-16A instead of NM-1CE1T1-PRI.On this you can connect your existing modems.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps274/products_data_sheet09186a0080091b8b.html

If this is not the case, I wiould request you your existing network diagram and the network you want to achieve.
