Issue with Hung SA after carrier reroute.

All,

We have a VPN connection using Cisco 2900 equpment.

It connects and passes data fine. However a few months ago we had some carrier issues and our normal egress traffic comes out of (i.e) Dallas.

When our internal dynamic redirect takes over from failed link. Our egress changes (same IP) to say (i.e.) Chicago.

When this happens the SA is hung and we have to manually reset the SA. While the lifetime SA settings are 1 hour. We know (and hear aabout it) within a few minutes when this happens as all the transactions sent fail. If we allow the hour to pass by, I believe the SA is recreated.

Okay, but what can I do to not have to manually intervene. .The other end is Cisco as well. And we are both running relatively new code.

thanks,

Without further details I would say you're missing any or both of:

1) DPD

2) invalid SPI recovery.

One helps to delete IKE sessions which are not alive, the other helps in a few scenarios where IPsec SAs are not in sync.
