macOS High Sierra User (student) can no longer connect with AnyConnect to college network

This was previously working for them, but now gives the error: AnyConnect was not able to establish a connection to the specific secure gateway. Please try connecting again.

 

The student does not think anything changed at all with their system, but said they might've done a system security update recently.

 

I don't believe this is an authentication issue as other test account credentials also don't work.

I've tried uninstalling the Cisco AnyConnect app with the uninstaller in the application folder and reinstalling, but this results in the same error when attempting to connect again.

 

I suspect the uninstaller doesn't remove all files, allowing me to do a fresh full reinstall, since after previous reinstall attempts, the vpn connection profile and student user login name remains. Are there more files that should be manually removed to ensure a clean install?
