Hi i am using cisco vpn client 5.0, when my client successfully connects to the vpn, i can only access my share drive through \\10.204.56.1\shared$ and not \\servername\shared$, how do i make my vpn recognise my servername. i tried editing the host file in c:/windows/system32/etc/drivers but did not work
thanks very much for your help

I presume you are connecting to a PIX/ASA device that terminates the client VPN? if so - in remote access add:-
group-policy DfltGrpPolicy attributes
dns-server value <
default-domain value <

Hi Andrew,
thanks for the help. unfortunately i do not have remote access to the PIX. is there any other way that i can do at my vpn computer to resolve this dns issue?

I really would suggest that you contact the network aqdministrator to resolve this - as this is a VPN DHCP DNS issue.
