Network adapters missing from network settings page in Windows

Hi,

My client asked me to upgrade their desktop to windows 10, from Windows 7. The upgrade went fine except the adapters went missing from the network settings page. Having done some research it seems there's some kind of bug relating to Cisco VPN when upgrading Windows.

Unaware of this at the time, I had actually done a clean install of Windows 10, so I'm unable to roll back and uninstall the Cisco software.

I've tried the methods suggested online of updating the registry, adding drivers, manually, uninstalling then reinstalling drivers. Nada.

Can any of you experts help?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi martin@harryadney.com,

There is a reason for all this trouble and is because the Legacy Cisco VPN Client is not supported on Windows 10 and also is already end of life and end of support, but you can take a look to the following link:

http://www.firewall.cx/cisco-technical-knowledgebase/cisco-services-tech/1127-cisco-vpn-client-windows-10-install-fix-442-failed-to-enable-virtual-adapter.html

If none of those steps is working i will recommend you to try AnyConnect.

Hope this info helps!!

Thanks JP!

While the problem isn't completely resolved, at least I have the Cisco adapter showing, which is more than I had before.

Next stop, AnyConnect!

Many thanks,

Martin

Well, nothing completely worked, so... I bought another network card, installed it and it works fine!
