POP & SMTP stop responding after vpn dial up

We use cicso vpn client vpn 3.5.2 (a?) on winxp. AFter connecting to our PIX, we often lose email services. Using outlook express, we get an error message stating that the pop or smtp server is not responding. Since the client is now using our internal dns, pop.company.com is resolved to an internal address, the internal address is pingable, and doing a nslookup with the client machine indicates that pop.company.com is being successfully resolved to the proper internal address. Closing the vpn connection, pop.company.com is now resolved to the public address via the roadwarriors' public dns server and email happily works again. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello,

What abt you close the Outlook Express before you launch your vpn client, and then after being connected to your PIX, you launch it again and download your emails, does that help?

it seems that outlook fails the DNS resolution if it is already launched when vpn is being connected.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Afaq
