Hi all,

I have enabled ssh on a router and wanted to have both telnet and ssh for a while. The problem is that when i telnet to the router it shows three times the login prompt username:

and disconnects!

eg. <LOGIN BANNER>

Username:

Username:

Username:

ssh connects correctly though! Even though i disabled SSH it stills cant open a telnet connectivity.

configuration follows:

line vty 0 4

exec-timeout 30 0

login local

password 7 .....

transport inpute telnet ssh

line vty 5 15

exec-timeout 30 0

login local

password 7 .....

transport inpute telnet ssh

NO acls in!

Debugging telnet follows:

Sep 8 11:19:35.276 EET: Telnet4: 1 1 251 1

Sep 8 11:19:35.276 EET: TCP4: Telnet sent WILL ECHO (1)

Sep 8 11:19:35.276 EET: Telnet4: 2 2 251 3

Sep 8 11:19:35.276 EET: TCP4: Telnet sent WILL SUPPRESS-GA (3)

Sep 8 11:19:35.276 EET: Telnet4: 80000 80000 253 24

Sep 8 11:19:35.276 EET: TCP4: Telnet sent DO TTY-TYPE (24)

Sep 8 11:19:35.276 EET: Telnet4: 10000000 10000000 253 31

Sep 8 11:19:35.276 EET: TCP4: Telnet sent DO WINDOW-SIZE (31)

edit: I've noticed that if i close ssh connection i can telnet to the router...but second telnet is not permitted!(even though telnet service is ok) because i see in the show line that the connection opens and closes. SSH ofcourse no problem!

I think i fixed it!Well i tried to separate the access to the vty lines.

I configured line vty 5 15 for input telnet only

and the rest 0 4 for ssh.

Now it seems to work! even though i cant understand why did open new connections!
